Weekly Reflection

Kia Ora,

Three things I’ve learnt this week was how to make chicken kebabs safely and hygienically, more about Maori prefixes starting with “Whaka” & “Kai”, and more about factors, multiples and prime numbers too. One thing I enjoyed this week was learning about Romero Britto and drawing similar art pieces to his work. The most challenging thing I’ve done this week was in kaupapa matua where I had to teach a group of teina actions to the poi. I found this difficult because it was hard to get most of the teina to listen and some were left handed which made it harder to teach.

My Learning This Week

Kia Ora

Three things I’ve learnt this week was learning more about prefixes and maori sentences that has a maori word that starts with “Whaka”
e.g “Ka whaka__ahau i te ruma – i tidy the room = Ka whakapai ahau i te ruma – i tidy the room”, another thing i learned was how to make a skit, I made a skit with Ella, Jaelyn, Stella, Isla and i where we had to make a skit fully in te reo but also using at least five different whaka words. One other thing I learned was about regular and irregular shapes in pangarau.

One thing I’ve enjoyed this week was tech because I got to learn how to make a pizza bun which was fun because I got to be in a group with my friends and I love cooking too. One thing I found challenging this week was teaching the teina a poi my group and I made. I found this challenging because the teina in my group weren’t listening and some of the teina in my group could do the moves and some couldn’t which was really frustrating because I had to slow down some of the moves while also teaching the next moves to the teina who could do the first few moves.

Reflection

Today my class and I learn’t the different ways to celebrate and observe different holidays and events. we learnt that events like Waitangi day and Anzac day are not celebrated there observed because its a day to remember what others had to do in the past, but on the other hand events and holidays like Christmas and birthdays are days we celebrate with family, whanau and friends

here is a link to my other reflection on what I did this week

Whakanui 2025

My favourite thing to celebrate is birthdays and holidays like Christmas, Easter, Matariki, Waitangi day and sometimes even Halloween, My favourite part about celebrating these holidays are the fact that we celebrate with yum food and friends and family too. To me the word celebration means to hang with friends and family with kai in a way to celebrate altogether.
