Weekly Reflection

Kia Ora,

Three things I’ve learnt this week was how to make chicken kebabs safely and hygienically, more about Maori prefixes starting with “Whaka” & “Kai”, and more about factors, multiples and prime numbers too. One thing I enjoyed this week was learning about Romero Britto and drawing similar art pieces to his work. The most challenging thing I’ve done this week was in kaupapa matua where I had to teach a group of teina actions to the poi. I found this difficult because it was hard to get most of the teina to listen and some were left handed which made it harder to teach.

My Learning This Week

Kia Ora

Three things I’ve learnt this week was learning more about prefixes and maori sentences that has a maori word that starts with “Whaka”
e.g “Ka whaka__ahau i te ruma – i tidy the room = Ka whakapai ahau i te ruma – i tidy the room”, another thing i learned was how to make a skit, I made a skit with Ella, Jaelyn, Stella, Isla and i where we had to make a skit fully in te reo but also using at least five different whaka words. One other thing I learned was about regular and irregular shapes in pangarau.

One thing I’ve enjoyed this week was tech because I got to learn how to make a pizza bun which was fun because I got to be in a group with my friends and I love cooking too. One thing I found challenging this week was teaching the teina a poi my group and I made. I found this challenging because the teina in my group weren’t listening and some of the teina in my group could do the moves and some couldn’t which was really frustrating because I had to slow down some of the moves while also teaching the next moves to the teina who could do the first few moves.

Reflection

Today my class and I learn’t the different ways to celebrate and observe different holidays and events. we learnt that events like Waitangi day and Anzac day are not celebrated there observed because its a day to remember what others had to do in the past, but on the other hand events and holidays like Christmas and birthdays are days we celebrate with family, whanau and friends

here is a link to my other reflection on what I did this week

Whakanui 2025

My favourite thing to celebrate is birthdays and holidays like Christmas, Easter, Matariki, Waitangi day and sometimes even Halloween, My favourite part about celebrating these holidays are the fact that we celebrate with yum food and friends and family too. To me the word celebration means to hang with friends and family with kai in a way to celebrate altogether.

Here is my reflection on my opinion of the 2nd week of Kura LINK

In The Beginning Book Review

Kia ora, These past two days Matua Travis selected 4 people to do reviews on 4 completely different books. The book Matua chose for me was In The Beginning. At first Matua introduced us to what we were doing. I wasn’t interested  at all trust me AT ALL But once my script and video were finished I realized it wasn’t actually that bad it was quite fun and I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Here is a LINK to My review, instructions, script and photos of the book too.

  • Friday – 25.10.24

On Friday the 25th of October Rawhiti School had their annual Athletics day. This year’s athletics wasn’t that bad but it was tiring, and some events were a little boring too. But on the other hand athletics is also good for some people because of the opportunity of zones and Canterbury. Finally, I think athletics is about trying but also having fun as well.

In my opinion I believe that this year’s Athletics was tiring only because of the weather we had that day which was really really hot but mainly because of all the events, leaning towards running 2 laps around the bike track on top of sprints as well.

In my opinion I feel athletics is a great opportunity for some kids with lots of experience and lots of practice too because everyone from year 4 to 8 gets the opportunity to get accepted into zones and from there maybe even Canterbury if they’re lucky.

I think Athletics is fun because you get to experience new events and sports with your friends. I also think it gives your parents the opportunity to watch you do events but most of all that AMAZING feeling once you get to finally chill and sit down after a long hot day of sports.

In conclusion I think this year’s athletics wasn’t that bad but it was tiring, and some events were a little boring too. But on the other hand athletics is also good for some people because of the opportunity of zones and cantiburies. Finally, I think athletics is about trying but also having fun as well.

Vocabulary Mahi

Today Matua Travis started Isla, Pagie, Abigail, Tupara, Johno, Oliver, Ihaia and I on this Vocabulary Mahi slide.

First, he explained the first slide then he put us into buddies my buddy was Isla. We first started by reading the River Swimming poem which was on the first slide then got started on the second. At first Isla and I were a bit confused on the second slide but after Matua helped us a bit then explained it a bit more Isla and I got the hang of it. Then we also realized that on the first slide all we had to do was relate something we have done to that specific word or sentence.

On slide 3 it was more about deciding what you would do in this situation then see if you and your buddy had any disagreements at the end. Then, on our last slide all we had to do was see which sentence related to that word the most.

Once I finished this slide I felt relieved that it was over but at the time it was pretty fun and interesting too.
